RS-232

RS-232 is interface for carry information between two devices distance of  up to 20 meters. The  information is carry along patch wires higher voltage  than is standard 5V for greater interference immunity. Data transfer is  asynchronous with closely set transmission speed and synchronization by trailing edge start pulse.

The RS232 standard is one of the oldest physical communication standards in computer world. The standard defines low-cost serial communication in a robust way where bits are sent sequentially on a copper line. It was originally  defined for connecting peripherals such as terminals and printers to computer systems. Nowadays, the computer to computer link with a so-called null modem cable is commonly used.

You can connect any of our recorder to the computer with an RS232 cable.

  • Advantages:

  • Data acquisition hardware can be plugged into computer's serial port, no adaptor card needed.
  • Up to 50 m between time recorder and computer.
